Kings Kids Village

The Ministry

We are currently serving as Directors of Kings Kids Village. Kings Kids Village is a group-home style orphanage currently ministering to 19 orphans. These are true orphans, who's parents are either both dead or one dead and the other one lost. The ministry began in 2004. Before that we have been church planting and raising up leaders in the Kenyan church. Now, we are raising up future leaders, only in child rearing and educational settings!

Accomplishments this year

This past year has seen much growth in Kings Kids Village. We have grown from six children and a staff of 7 to 19 children and a staff of 17. The social work process for each of these children is quite extensive as some come with absolutely no paper work - investigations, and multiple visits to police posts, hospitals, and government offices is always necessary.

We have capacity in our facility, called Faith House, for up to thirty two children. Our heart is not just to take good care of these children, but to provide them with Godly parents who foster them in the group home setting. We are particulary concerned that they connect with Godly fathers as well as mothers. We started with one set of parents and are glad to announce that we have found our second set of parents. They will be joining us in January of 2007. Ten of our children are in a school that we have started on campus as well. This has brought it's own challenges; from setting up the school rooms, to buying curriculum, to hiring teachers, and for some teacher- training for the curriculum that we are using. We have also been in the process of registering our home as a not for profit company and with the Department of Children's Services of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Some of the things needed for the registration are home inspection, fire- proofing and drills, medical check-ups for all the workers, and getting a "certificate of good conduct" from the CID (like the CIA in the States) - proving that our workers do not have any police record.

Goals for next year

We are busily setting our goals for next year right now. Our first priority is to dig a borehole and water supply system. The next immediate project we are talking about is to build an educational facility for our orphans. Our present temporary facility is about to be fall down from termites. Next after that is either an administrative block and/or short term volunteer housing. We plan to break ground for the educational facility in Spring of next year.

Come join us

We would be glad to host one or more mission teams from your church to help build part of the facility. We work with a local contractor who is a master at including mission teams into his construction.
