Westside Church

yucatan team

A team of 5 women have just returned from a missions trip to the small village of Ek Balam in the Yucatan. They partnered with four women from the Playa Del Carmen Church, who served as their interpreters.

The purpose of the trip was to purchase hammocks from the women of Ek Balam as a way to bring more economy into their village. In addition to purchasing hammocks (which are now for sale at Rising Star), the team brought thermometers and children's Tylenol to each woman of the village.

A "Women's Day in the Park" was held where each village woman was trained in the use of the thermometers and tylenol, while the children were entertained with bubbles, sidewalk chalk and face painting.

The team was able to visit and pray with each mother of a newborn in the village. A meeting with the principal and teachers of the local school was helpful in determining possible upcoming projects.

Many divine appointments which resulted in salvations, healings and deliverances
were experienced. God has great plans for this village and upcoming trips are being
planned. A September Men's trip will focus on the building of a playground and
laying the groundwork for a lunch facility on the school ground. A November Women's team will return to purchase more hammocks and take more medical supplies to the village. In the year of 2008 two to three trips will follow, in an effort to bring spiritual freedom and hope physically, economically, educationally and vocationally to the people of Ek Balam.
