What We Believe
In the very beginning, God created mankind and invited us to share in His story; a story of friendship and love. We walked away from God, choosing to write our own words, our own way only to discover that without Him, our world and our stories are filled with loss, injustice and pain. But God still longed for us and so He sent grace and grace changes everything. Jesus Christ came to rescue and restore relationship with God forever. His resurrection invites us back into the story, to live it and to share it with those who are longing for hope and life.
Our Purpose: To Love God and Love People
Why we do what we do: We are compelled to love God with reckless abandon and to love people the way that Jesus does. Real lives - our friends, family, community, world - are eternally at stake.
How we live it: We help people become more like Christ and reflect that likeness in their world. We see God using us to transform the face of faith one relationship, one act of kindness, and one relationship at a time.
Westside Core Values:
Real is rare, so we will be that. In a world filled with posing and pretense, we are working hard to develop a culture where people are free to let their true selves shine. This means we don’t all dress, talk or think alike – but we value the diversity that comes from true authenticity.
Friendly is more than skin deep. From the pews (if we had them) to the parking lot, our goal is to develop a culture fueled by grace, where we honor, forgive and serve one another. Our intention is for every guest on our campuses and in our Life Groups to feel noticed, known and loved.
Age is beautiful. Which age? Every age. We will follow the example of Jesus and make Westside a place where every generation finds hope and a home. We will be relentless in our efforts to recognize and honor the beautiful textures and colors that each age group provides.
Our message is clear & compelling. We recognize that God has set us (in this place) in our city and (at this point in our) century for a specific reason. While the message of the gospel is timeless and unchanging, we will speak it in a way that reaches as many people as possible and our personal preferences will take a back seat to this goal.
We love impossible. All that we are dreaming or attempting is impossible without the power of the Holy Spirit infusing this work with grace. Our individual and corporate mandate, therefore, is to listen carefully, follow closely and obey completely with total freedom to fail. We love impossible things because they keep us safely dependent on the only One who is able.
We are a mosaic, recreating the face of faith. We are all pieces of the whole picture, bringing our gifts, talents and energy to create something greater than the sum of our parts. Life groups are led, needs are met, people are loved because we recognize that every person, from small to big or young to old, plays an essential part in this grand mission.
We are a movement, not a museum. We refuse to settle for a been-there, done-that mindset. Our community is fueled by a fresh and audacious faith that believes in the dream of His kingdom coming into our right-now, right-here lives.
