Rehoboam did many things that were unwise; such as listening to the wrong people for advice about how he should treat his subjects. Rehoboam then did things that made Judah strong. He, at times, acted wisely, and thus, the kingdom became strong. But then, “he and the people stopped obeying the teachings of the Lord”.
I have seen this happen often. When people are in difficult situations, they cry out to God. God is faithful to give them the help they need, and later, they become lax in their dependence on God (thinking they can do it on own now). That is never a good way to go.
Father, I want to remain confident in Who You are in my life. I do not want to become unaware of You and Your ways. I love You. AMEN
Lord, tell me in the morning about Your love, as I trust You. Show me Your ways because You are my God. Psalm 143
After He Became Strong
1 After Rehoboam’s kingdom was set up and he became strong, he and the people of Judah stopped obeying the teachings of the LORD. (2 Chronicles 12:1 NCV)
