Learning can, and should be a life-long activity. But in order to really learn, we must accept some correction. Ouch! Many times in the learning process, the part about accepting correction is hard to take. If we believe that we know what is right, it can be hard to listen to other opinions (and in that process perhaps learn something new). We usually say to our children that the correction we give them is so that they will learn right ways of doing things. Does that also apply to those of us that are all ‘grown up’?
Being corrected is not always easy for me. But I do want to learn, so I do try to listen and learn. At least I try to work toward that.
Father, You do know me and know my struggles with this. Thank You for Your patience. Please keep pressing me and helping me to do better. I love You and Your ways. AMEN
1 Anyone who loves learning accepts correction, but a person who hates being corrected is stupid. (Proverbs 12:1 NCV)
