When we read about people trying to make gods out of wood and metal, it seems so ridiculous. The God that we worship made the heavens and the earth, and to try to reduce him down to a statue cannot be done. And yet, we do forget the Incomparable from time to time and try to put other ‘things’ in his place.
I need to review my life again and again to check if I am putting ‘things’ in the place of God in my life. When Jim and I are out camping, watching a nature program on TV, or looking at the stars as they come out at night, the Incomparable is real. But then there is always the danger of putting something else in His place.

God, You are Incomparable, and I marvel at Your works. Help me, remind me again and again of who You are, and how You love me and care for me. When I look at all You have made, it makes me feel small, and yet You do care about me and my life. Thank you. AMEN

I will worship the Lord because He is holy, and because He is great. The Lord alone is King so I will rejoice in Him! Psalm 96

Isaiah 46:5-7

5 “So to whom will you compare me, the Incomparable? Can you picture me without reducing me? 6 People with a lot of money hire craftsmen to make them gods. The artisan delivers the god, and they kneel and worship it! 7 They carry it around in holy parades, then take it home and put it on a shelf. And there it sits, day in and day out, a dependable god, always right where you put it. Say anything you want to it, it never talks back. Of course, it never does anything either! (Isaiah 46:5-7 The Message)
