Hezekiah encouraged the people and told them to be strong and brave. They are only men, he said, but we have the Lord to help us, and fight our battles for us.
There are a couple verses that I refer to that remind me to be strong and brave. I need that encouragement, and a strong reminder that God is still God; my God.
6 Be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid of them and don’t be frightened, because the LORD your God will go with you. He will not leave you or forget you.” 7 Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in front of the people, “Be strong and brave, because you will lead these people into the land the LORD promised to give their ancestors, and help them take it as their own. 8 The LORD himself will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forget you. Don’t be afraid and don’t worry.” (Deuteronomy 31:6-8 NCV)
20 David also said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and brave, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, because the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or leave you until all the work for the Temple of the LORD is finished. (1 Chronicles 28:20 NCV)
God, I thank You that You are for me, and for the reminder that those I might think direct my life are only men, and You are God, and You fight my battles. I love You, and You are my strength. AMEN
Father, You are God. You have always been, and You will always be. Teach me how short my life really is, so that I may be wise. Psalm 90
5 Then Hezekiah made Jerusalem stronger. He rebuilt all the broken parts of the wall and put towers on it. He also built another wall outside the first one and strengthened the area that was filled in on the east side of the old part of Jerusalem. He also made many weapons and shields. 6 Hezekiah put army commanders over the people and met with them at the open place near the city gate. Hezekiah encouraged them, saying, 7 “Be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid or worried because of the king of Assyria or his large army. There is a greater power with us than with him. 8 He only has men, but we have the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles.” The people were encouraged by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. (2 Chronicles 32:5-8 NCV)
