What good ways to live that are presented in verse 12! If you plant goodness, you will be able to harvest the fruit of loyalty. And if you plow the new ground of knowledge, the Lord will pour goodness on you. Did the people of Israel do this? Instead, they continued to trust in their own power.
I love gardening. I love planting seeds, and then seeing plants begin to grow knowing that at some time soon there will fruit to eat or flowers to enjoy. God gave the people of Israel the opportunity to see, and enjoy, a harvest, but they only continued in their own way. How very sad!
Father, You give me the same choice today. I can plant goodness, and then harvest the fruity of loyalty. I can plow the new ground of knowledge, and allow You to pour goodness on me. Thank You for all You are to me, and for all You do. AMEN
Who is God? Only the Lord. The ways of God are without fault. The Lord’s Words are pure. He is a shield to those who trust Him. Psalm 18
12 I said, ‘Plant goodness, harvest the fruit of loyalty, plow the new ground of knowledge. Look for the Lord until he comes and pours goodness on you like water.’ 13 But you have plowed evil and harvested trouble; you have eaten the fruit of your lies. Because you have trusted in your own power and your many soldiers, 14 your people will hear the noise of battle, and all your strong, walled cities will be destroyed. It will be like the time King Shalman destroyed Beth Arbel in battle, when mothers and their children were bashed to death. (Hosea 10:12-14 NCV)
