Four Angels

Scripture

The Four Angels were untied and let loose, Four Angels all prepared for the exact year, month, day, and even hour when they were to kill a third of the human race. (Revelation 9:15 The Message)

Observation and Application:

I don’t understand all the symbolism and drama that John saw in his Revelation vision.  Here are some things I do understand from today’s reading of Revelation chapters 5 through 9:
   •The Lamb of God is the Lion of Judah.  Jesus humbled himself and made the ultimate sacrifice and he is worthy of the ultimate worship.
   •Some terrible things are predetermined to happen on earth as history unfolds.  These terrible things will happen because men on earth choose not to worship the God who created them and refuse to align themselves with his purpose.
   •These apocalyptic events are not so much wrathful punishments as they are inevitable consequences of sin and rebellion.
   •There are predetermined times at which these events will take place and a predetermined sequence to the events.
   •The ultimate outcome is already determined.
   •What God wants from me (and from everyone else) is to put my faith and trust in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, to live my faith in the face of whatever comes my way, and to make sure as many others as possible have the opportunity to believe.
   •That much I understand.

Prayer:

Father, I don’t understand everything I read in Revelation or in the Old Testament prophetic books of Daniel and Ezekiel and Zechariah.  I do understand that it’s your universe and that events will play out just the way you say they will.  I understand that my proper response is faith and trust in Jesus and to let others know the truth.  Help me to do my part.  Amen.
