Events
Throughout the year Westside often has missions events where we we can visit with Missionaries or support our local Missions event. Check back for more information.
Uganda Clothing Drive
Update: 4/5/2012: “We are at 25% toward meeting our goal! We still need good, slightly used, summer-weight clothes!”
We are collecting summer clothes to be sent to our missionaries, Brent and Virginia Earwicker, in Uganda. Our goal is to send 50,000 items of good, reusable clothing. There is a trailer at the Westside Church campus for our collection site. Items may be dropped off during office hours or on weekends during service times. Please see the list below of what is needed and what will be rejected. If you’d like to help with the shipping costs, please write “Uganda Shipping” on your check or cash envelope. You can also receive a donation receipt for the clothing you donate by contacting Jeanie at the church office (541-382-7504).
If you’re interested in volunteering to help with this project in any way, please contact our project coordinator, Teri Kruger, at tkruger@westsidechurch.org
Birth Kits for Babies
Every minute a women dies of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth. Ninety-nine percent of these deaths occur in developing nations. For every woman who dies in childbirth, another 30 women incur injuries and infections, which are often preventable. Chances are if you’re a mother you are not one of them. Most likely you delivered your baby safely and hygienically in a hospital, birth center, or possibly even at home under the expertise of an experienced midwife. No doubt you had access to doctors, nurses, midwives, and other medical professionals throughout your pregnancy, delivery, and postnatal care, as well as access to drugs and medication and surgical procedures when necessary. But hundreds of thousands of mothers around the world aren’t as lucky as you. Read my blog and find out how you can help by purchasing or making a Birth Kit for Babies
