Missions Weekend
Join us on October 30 & 31 as some of our missionaries share their experiences in the field. More details soon.
The Missions Team at Westside is excited to share with you the latest information on Westside's mission outreach.
We participate in Missions because:
- It fulfills the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)
- It shares Christ's heart for the world. He wants all to know Him.
- It gives others an opportunity to see and experience God's love in very tangible ways through real people.
- It enables those God has called to missions to obey Him.
- It helps our people to learn of the church abroad.

Letter from Brent & Virginia - July 2010:
Dear Westside Church Family,
Greetings from your
white Africans! How is the ministry there?
Three weeks ago we graduated
20 young adults that have been going through a discipleship course called Ignite
at the church. It's a 6 month commitment for these students who (most of them)
will be joining University come fall. It's similar to the CLC program Brent was
leading in Bend, but tweaked a bit to fit within the framework of this culture.
They receive daily instruction in many biblical and practical subjects,
opportunity for ministry and service, personal weekly mentorship with a pastor
or leader and a taste of what being a missionary in their own culture is like
with a week long mission trip to one of the Islands where we minister. The goal
in mind with Ignite is truly that, that they will receive the call to be
disciples of Christ, be equipped in that calling and be an ever burning ember
for His glory! We were blessed to see the transformation that had taken place
in many of them at the end of our time together.
We're praying that God
will lead us regarding the Island Leadership School that usually begins in the
falll. We're always wanting to make sure that what we're doing is of Him, in
His way and is the most effective use of our time and energies. Please join in
prayer with us for the 2010-2011 Island Leadership School planning and
preparation.
The family is doing well. Emilie growing like a weed and of
course there's never a dull moment when Josiah's around. We also just
celebrated our 6th anniversary on the 23rd. We've now been married on the
mission field more than we haven't and we're growing so much together with every
challenge and opportunity that comes our way.
You may have heard that
we recently experienced some bombings here in Kampala. Things at this time feel
a bit unstable with terrorist activity looming about and the upcoming elections
next year (which may incite rioting). We know God is able to protect his
people, but we would appreciate your prayers for peace and protection
here.
In closing, we just wanted to say, thanks again for partnering with
us financially and otherwise. The words we have don't seem to be enough to
express our gratitude for your loving generosity. It's one way that we know
we're not forgotten laborers out here in this field. Thank You!
Your
Uganda missionaries in His loving care,
Brent, Virginia, Josiah and
Emilie
