How do I find out what Serving Team opportunities are available?

Volunteer opportunities at Westside are organized into several main groups. On the right of this page you’ll notice a link for Serving Team Opportunities, click the link and it will take you to the corresponding list of opportunities that exist.

How do I begin serving?

Each individual entry point may look and feel a little different depending on the Serving Team opportunities you decide to explore. Complete information is listed with each opportunity when you search online. With any team, we ask that you fill out the interest form and someone will contact you right away. If you find that you are unsure as to where you might want to serve, we do have a “first serve” opportunity that allows you to try a team one time and check it out without having to make any kind of commitment. If you are still unsure what your next step should be, feel free to stop by The Connection Center (by the west lobby entrance) and we will be delighted to help you!

What if I don’t know what I would be good at?

This is a great question! Many of us don’t know exactly where we want to serve or even what we would be good at. God has designed each and every individual in a unique way giving us talents and strengths in different areas. We want to help you find your strengths. One of the ways we can do this is with a spiritual gift assessment. On the right of this page you can see a link to our “spiritual gift assessment”. If you wonder what your strengths are, we encourage you to take this quick and easy online assessment. It will share your results with you immediately. Once you find out what strengths you have, and you still are not sure what areas you might want to serve, we would be happy to meet with you to discuss your strengths and to share with you the opportunities that would be your “best fit”!

What is expected of me?

Expectations will vary from role to role, however, you can rest assured there is a process in place to ensure that you are equipped and trained. Every role has an assigned team leader whose responsibility is to set you up to win. The most important thing you can do is to show up and be ready to go when you say you will. Should you ever have any questions about what is expected of you be sure to talk with your team leader. Good, open communication is the best method to ensure the serving opportunity is a good fit for both you and the serving team.

What is the time commitment?

This is the true beauty of Serving Teams. With most teams, you can tailor your serving to fit your schedule and your season of life. If schedule is a primary factor in the selection of your serving team, each serving team role has a time requirement associated so you can find an opportunity that fits your schedule.

Is there a place at Westside for me to volunteer?

Absolutely! While we understand that many people look at the size of Westside and think that they can’t possibly make a difference, the truth of the matter is that you can. You don’t have to look deep to unveil that serving opportunities abound while people resources are in short supply. God has a calling on this church. It will take the efforts of all of us in order to achieve His vision. Join the challenge!
