Baruch was wondering what it was all about, and felt that he could not take any more pain and discouragement. God’s word to him through Jeremiah was, ‘What are you seeking for yourself; great things? Don’t do that, but don’t be discouraged either.’ God goes on to say to Baruch that He would protect him wherever he went.
What is it that I am seeking; is it great things for me? I don’t want that to be said of me. I want to be known for seeking good things for others, and for doing the things God has asked me to do.
Lord, You have given me so much, and I am so thankful for my family, our health, our joy together, and beyond that, the privilege of serving You in so many different places, and to have friends who are always there for us! Thank You. I love You, and You are my strength. AMEN
Father, You answer me in amazing ways! You hear my prayers and forgive my sins. I have many good things because of Your love. Psalm 65
What Do I Seek?
4 The LORD said, “Say this to Baruch: ‘This is what the LORD says: I will soon tear down what I have built, and I will pull up what I have planted everywhere in Judah. 5 Baruch, you are looking for great things for yourself. Don’t look for them, because I will bring disaster on all the people, says the LORD. You will have to go many places, but I will let you escape alive wherever you go.’ ” (Jeremiah 45:4-5 NCV)
