So many times we are trying to find, and do the things, that we feel God wants from us. For the people of Israel, it was the many sacrifices and burnt offerings. God told them that that was ok, but He already owned the cattle, bulls, and birds. He want them to just show gratitude to their God, and give Him what they had promised.
We can always come to God, and without coming with what we consider sacrifices. He just wants our gratitude, and acknowledgement of who He is in our lives.
Father, the things I promise You are important, and I want to do them. But today my heart is filled with gratitude and thankfulness for all that You have done, and for all that You do. So thank You is what I say, but I know that You know how much is in my heart of gratefulness. AMEN
I know that You, Lord, hear me and answer me when I call to You. I don’t trust in human things, but in You alone. You are my God. Psalm 20
What Does God Want
7 God says, “My people, listen to me; Israel, I will testify against you. I am God, your God. 8 I do not scold you for your sacrifices. You always bring me your burnt offerings. 9 But I do not need bulls from your stalls or goats from your pens, 10 because every animal of the forest is already mine. The cattle on a thousand hills are mine. 11 I know every bird on the mountains, and every living thing in the fields is mine. 12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you, because the earth and everything in it are mine. 13 I don’t eat the meat of bulls or drink the blood of goats. 14 Give an offering to show thanks to God. Give God Most High what you have promised. 15 Call to me in times of trouble. I will save you, and you will honor me.” (Psalm 50:7-15 NCV)
