God was looking for someone who cared enough about the ways and truths of God that they would be willing to stand in the gap. God wanted someone who would care enough to rebuild the wall of righteousness. God is looking. This reminds me of a verse in Psalms from The Message: "God sticks his head out of heaven. He looks around. He’s looking for someone not stupid— one man, even, God-expectant, just one God-ready woman." (Psalm 53:2 The Message) Just one man or one woman who is ready. Are you that man? Am I that woman?
Lord, I want to say that I am that woman. I want to be able to stand for what is right and good; what is true and of God. Please give me wisdom to know when and how to do that. I want to live with an expectancy of Your goodness and Your faithfulness. I love You, and You are my strength. AMEN
I look at the heavens, which You made with Your fingers. I see the moon and stars and wonder why I am important to You. Psalm 8
Who Will Stand in the Gap?
30 “I looked for someone to build up the walls and to stand before me where the walls are broken to defend these people so I would not have to destroy them. But I could not find anyone. 31 So I let them see my anger. I destroyed them with an anger that was like fire because of all the things they have done, says the Lord GOD.” (Ezekiel 22:30-31 NCV)
